Dimapur accident kills two teenagers after vehicle strikes pedestrians
Two teenagers were killed in Dimapur on the evening of August 29 after a Gypsy vehicle allegedly struck multiple vehicles and ran over pedestrians near an ATM booth in Veterinary Colony, Burma Camp.
According to police reports, the driver, 25-year-old Bumei Phom, reportedly hit a Royal Enfield motorcycle, a Maruti car, and a pickup auto before striking two pedestrians. The victims, identified as 15-year-old Macagbou Charenamai and 17-year-old Gaisinlung Thangmei, succumbed to their injuries at local hospitals.
Authorities have arrested Bumei Phom. A case has been registered at the East Police Station under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Motor Vehicles Act. Local student and youth organizations have condemned the incident, calling for a thorough investigation and strict legal action.
