Dimapur Deputy Commissioner urges youth to adopt regular blood donation

Dimapur Deputy Commissioner Dr. Tinojongshi Chang has called for the establishment of a sustained culture of voluntary blood donation among the youth. Speaking at an awareness programme held at Immanuel College on October 1, Chang emphasized that blood is a vital resource that cannot be manufactured and must be obtained through human donors to support surgeries, accident victims, and childbirth.

Dr. Chang urged the community to move away from a reactive approach—where donations only occur during personal emergencies—toward a regular, organized practice of voluntary donation. He encouraged students to act as ambassadors for the cause, helping to dispel misconceptions and fears regarding the safety of the procedure under medical supervision.

The event was organized jointly by the Dimapur District Hospital Blood Centre and Immanuel College, in collaboration with the Voluntary Blood Donors Association of Nagaland and supported by the Nagaland State Blood Transfusion Council.
