Dimapur organizations oppose NSCN/FRGN business directives
Business organizations and local government bodies in Dimapur and Chümoukedima have rejected directives issued by the NSCN/FRGN. The group reportedly ordered a complete Sunday closure of all business establishments and the shutdown of non-local businesses within 30 days.
The Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) and East Dimapur Town Council (EDTC) asserted that regulating market hours and business operations falls under their jurisdiction. They maintained that shops may remain open on Sundays following church services. Dimapur Deputy Commissioner Dr. Tinojongshi Chang stated that the district administration would follow state government directives and would not act on orders from political groups or organizations.
The Linguistic Minority Forum of Nagaland (LMFN) also expressed concern regarding the reported measures, calling for the protection of long-settled non-Naga residents. The LMFN urged authorities to clarify the legal status of the directive, noting that the proposed closure of non-Naga businesses could impact constitutional rights regarding equality and the freedom to practice lawful trade.
