Dimapur road accident kills two Don Bosco students
Two students from Don Bosco Higher Secondary School in Dimapur, identified as Gaisinlung Dhangmei (Class XI) and Machangbou Charenamai (Class X), died following a road accident on August 29. The incident occurred at Veterinary Colony in Burma Camp while the students were returning home after a futsal match.
The victims were reportedly struck by a Mahindra Gypsy allegedly driven by 25-year-old Bumei Phom. Following the accident, several student organizations and civil bodies, including the Rongmei Students’ Union Dimapur (RSUD), the Eastern Naga Students’ Federation (ENSF), and the Zeliangrong Welfare Association (ZWA), have demanded swift and impartial justice.
These organizations have called for a thorough investigation and strict legal action against the perpetrator. Additionally, the ENSF urged local authorities to implement consistent checks on speeding, reckless driving, and underage or intoxicated driving to prevent future tragedies.
