El Campín pitch failure triggers investigation into Sencia

The Dimayor has cancelled the Millonarios vs. Once Caldas match scheduled for October 13, 2026, due to the poor condition of the pitch at Bogotá’s El Campín stadium. Despite assurances from Sencia, the concessionaire responsible for the stadium's maintenance, that the turf would be ready following recent concerts by BTS, inspections revealed the surface was unfit for professional play.

Bogotá Mayor Carlos Fernando Galán has called for an investigation by the District Institute of Recreation and Sports (IDRD) into a possible breach of contract by Sencia. The IDRD is currently evaluating potential sanctions, which could include fines, economic discounts based on quality indicators, or the application of penalty clauses.

Technical assessments suggest the pitch may require five to ten days to recover. The situation has disrupted the Liga BetPlay schedule, and officials emphasized that the contract prioritizes football safety over other events. Sencia representatives reportedly declined an invitation to discuss the matter with the media during recent briefings.
