Dimitar Berbatov launches theatrical monologue about life after football

Former Bulgarian striker Dimitar Berbatov revealed that he will stage a solo theatrical performance titled “Berbatov – Decoding”. In an interview on the NOVA program “Na Fokus”, he explained that the show will trace the highs and lows of his career and personal life, including his longtime dream of wearing a Manchester United shirt.

Berbatov spoke openly about the emotional difficulty he faced after ending his football career, describing a period of depression and a feeling that “part of me died”. He said the stage is an unfamiliar but motivating arena, and he intends to confront his past mistakes, his relationship with Sir Alex Ferguson, and the pressures of elite sport.

The monologue is positioned as a personal exploration rather than a glorified celebration, aiming to show the audience the steps that led to his achievements and the challenges that followed retirement.
