Dimitri Van den Bergh faces career risks amid form slump
Belgian professional darts player Dimitri Van den Bergh faces significant career uncertainty following a prolonged slump in form and recent personal challenges. The former UK Open and World Matchplay champion is currently at risk of losing his PDC Tour Card and missing the World Championship.
After a three-month hiatus due to health reasons, Van den Bergh attempted a comeback at the Flanders Darts Trophy in Antwerp but was defeated 6–2 by Andy Baetens. His subsequent appearance at the Players Championship events in Den Bosch, Netherlands, also resulted in a loss to Germany’s Kai Gotthardt, where he recorded an average of 75.56 and failed to win a single leg.
Van den Bergh has now withdrawn from the second Players Championship event to return home and support his family after his eldest daughter suffered a broken arm. This marks his 15th first-round exit during the current Players Championship season.
