Dimitrieska-Кочоска emphasizes fiscal discipline at IMF and World Bank meetings
North Macedonia's Minister of Finance, Gordana Dimitrieska-Кочоска, emphasized the necessity of fiscal discipline, efficient public spending management, and accelerated structural reforms to maintain economic stability. Speaking at the annual meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank in Bangkok, she noted that while the global economy shows resilience, repeated economic shocks have depleted fiscal and energy reserves.
Dimitrieska-Кочоска stated that responsible management of public finances is the foundation of a stable economy. Her focus remains on fiscal consolidation and reforms intended to increase productivity, stimulate investment, and strengthen domestic competitiveness to ensure sustainable growth for citizens and companies.
The plenary sessions in Bangkok also featured remarks from IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva and World Bank Group President Ajay Banga. During the meetings, the Minister also held discussions with regional leaders from the World Bank and the International Finance Corporation (IFC).
