Dimitris Daskalopoulos donates 51 artworks to museums in Greece and Scotland

Dimitris Daskalopoulos has donated 51 artworks from his collection to four museums located in Greece and Scotland. This initiative aims to increase public access to contemporary art and promote Greek creativity on an international scale.

The National Gallery in Athens will receive the largest portion, with 29 works by prominent Greek modern and contemporary artists from the 1960s to the 1990s. Featured artists include Ioannis Aggelis, Konstantinos Andreou, Spyros Vikatos, Alekos Fassianos, Giorgos Vorres, and Kostis Georgiou.

Other recipients include MOMus-Museum of Contemporary Art in Thessaloniki, which will receive 16 works by artists such as Jay Heikes, Subodh Gupta, Seth Price, Catharina Van Eetvelde, and Kelley Walker. The Museum of Contemporary Art of Crete will acquire three pieces by Nobuko Tsuchiya, Ioanna Pantazopoulou, and Nana Zachim. Additionally, three works by Mike Kelley, Bruce Nauman, and Margarita Myrogianni are part of the distribution, while the National Galleries of Scotland in Edinburgh will receive three works.
