Giannakopoulos addressed his commitment to Panathinaikos, noting that while he feels a responsibility toward the club's millions of fans, he has never claimed he would be there forever. He noted that the value of Panathinaikos has reached approximately half a billion euros and expressed that he would not necessarily impose the same professional obligations on his children.

Regarding coach Ergin Ataman, Giannakopoulos expressed strong support, stating: "He is an exceptional professional. He brought us the European trophy." He criticized the lack of consistent support for the coach and the team in Greece during the previous season, suggesting that full support might have led to even better results.
