Dimitris Janakopulos reveals past interest in investing in KK Partizan

Dimitris Janakopulos, the head of Panathinaikos, has revealed that he once considered investing in the Serbian basketball club KK Partizan. He noted that discussions regarding potential investment took place approximately 10 to 15 years ago, during the era when Duško Vujošević was the team's coach, as the club faced significant economic difficulties.

Janakopulos explained that the investment did not materialize because the structure of the Belgrade-based sports society required an investor to take over the entire organization, including other departments like swimming and water polo, rather than just the basketball club.

Expressing a personal affinity for Serbia and Partizan, Janakopulos stated, “I am a Partizan fan in Serbia,” and noted that the atmosphere and fan base of Partizan are the closest to those of Panathinaikos. He also reflected on the return of Željko Obradović to Panathinaikos, describing it as “destiny.”
