Dimitris Karabatsas, prominent Larissa physician, dies at 62

Dimitris Karabatsas, a well-known orthopedic surgeon and Director of the Larissa Health Center, has passed away at the age of 62.

According to reports, Karabatsas experienced sudden chest pain and malaise before being rushed to the Larissa General Hospital. Despite emergency efforts by medical staff, he could not be revived. He had reportedly faced recent heart-related health issues.

Karabatsas was a highly regarded figure in the Larissa community and the medical profession. He served as the director of the orthopedic department at the Health Center and was previously associated with the AEL sports team as a team physician.

The funeral is scheduled for Thursday, October 22, at 4:00 p.m. at the Holy Metropolitan Church of Agios Achillios in Larissa. The wake will be held at the church starting at 3:30 p.m., followed by a reception at the ‘Frourio’ center.
