Dimitris Kouretas challenges former governor over Tempi accident handling
Thessaly Regional Governor Dimitris Kouretas has intensified his political stance regarding the Tempi train accident following a meeting of the Thessaly Regional Council. During the session, Kouretas addressed the presence of victims' parents and provided public information concerning contracts from the period in question.
Kouretas issued a sharp critique of former governor Kostas Agorastos, accusing him of attempting to meet with the parents of the victims privately and without media presence. Comparing such actions to the behavior of ‘mafiosi’ who ‘move in the dark,’ Kouretas has challenged Agorastos to attend the next Regional Council meeting on September 29 to address questions and provide answers publicly.
In a social media statement, Kouretas expressed deep emotional distress regarding the handling of the accident, specifically referencing the gruesome nature of the wreckage and the alleged removal of debris. He vowed to remain dedicated to seeking accountability for those responsible for the tragedy.
