Dimitris Koutsoumbas visits fire‑damaged villages in western Attica

Communist Party of Greece (KKE) General Secretary Dimitris Koutsoumbas toured the villages of Vilia, Kriou Pigadi and Porto Germanou in western Attica, where recent wildfires have caused extensive damage. Accompanied by party officials and local volunteers, he said the KKE had repeatedly warned the government about the fire risk and accused authorities of failing to implement preventive measures.

Koutsoumbas called for an immediate boost in firefighting resources, faster compensation for affected residents and stronger protection of public and forest lands. He urged that damage assessments be completed quickly so that full reimbursement could be provided, condemning what he described as repeated governmental inaction.

The visit underscores the political tension surrounding the disaster response, with the KKE demanding accountability and swift action from the Greek government.
