Dimitris Koutsoumpas meets with Greek farmers in Atalanti

Dimitris Koutsoumpas, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE), met with farmers and livestock producers in Atalanti, Phthiotis, to discuss the ongoing challenges facing the Greek agricultural sector.

During the meeting, Christos Ligdis, president of the Atalanti Agricultural Association, highlighted the difficulties regarding production costs, the need for guaranteed product prices, and the inadequacy of government measures to combat zoonotic diseases. He also expressed concerns regarding the perceived criminalization of agricultural protests and blockades.

Koutsoumpas stated that the Greek agricultural sector has faced continuous setbacks over recent decades, reaching a peak in recent years. He characterized the farmers' struggle as a “just fight” for survival and called for support to ensure that agricultural movements are not penalized.
