Dimitris Natsios links low PISA scores to working mothers
Dimitris Natsios, president of the Niki party, has linked low student performance in PISA assessments to the fact that mothers work outside the home. In an interview with ERT, Natsios argued that the primary reason for declining levels in mathematics and language is the absence of mothers from the household to act as the child's first teacher.
Natsios characterized the current situation of working women not as empowerment, but as “slavery,” suggesting that the state should provide financial support to allow women to remain at home with their children. He proposed that the government should provide two years of paid leave to address these educational concerns and the country's demographic decline.
