Dimitris Papanotas announces media departure amid dispute

Journalist Dimitris Papanotas has announced his intention to leave the media industry, potentially as early as this summer or next year, following a heated public dispute with journalist Foteini Petrogianni.

In a public statement, Papanotas requested privacy from his colleagues, citing a difficult period of mourning and mental exhaustion. He expressed frustration with what he described as the “cannibalistic mentalities” of the media, stating that defending himself has become a futile effort.

The conflict began after Papanotas questioned Petrogianni’s professional competence regarding her views on GNTM participants. Petrogianni has characterized his remarks as a serious insult to her professional career and has indicated her intention to pursue legal action. Despite reported attempts by Papanotas to communicate with her to de-escalate the tension, Petrogianni remains firm in her decision to proceed legally.
