Dimitris Pavlidis places 8th in European discus throw final

Greek discus thrower Dimitris Pavlidis finished eighth in the final at the European Athletics Championships in Birmingham. Despite entering the competition with the lowest ranking among the finalists, the 23-year-old achieved a season best and his third-best career performance with a throw of 64.34 meters.

Pavlidis maintained high consistency throughout the event, with all his valid throws exceeding 60 meters. This performance marks his first appearance in a European final.

The podium was led by Slovenia's Kristjan Čeh, who took gold with a throw of 72.51 meters. Lithuania's Mykolas Alekna earned the silver medal, and Germany's Henrik Janßen secured the bronze.
