Dimitro Horiha to represent North Macedonia in handball
Ukrainian handball player Dimitro Horiha will now represent the North Macedonia national team. The 29-year-old left back, who previously played for Ukraine during the 2020 European Championship, received official permission to switch nationalities on October 15.
Aleksandar Stefanov, president of the Handball Federation of North Macedonia, confirmed the news, noting that Horiha is at the peak of his career and will bring significant quality to the squad. National team coach Kiril Lazarov praised the player's long-range shooting, two-way play, and winning character.
Horiha, who currently plays for Pik Szeged and previously played for Vardar, is expected to make his debut in upcoming matches, potentially against Luxembourg on November 4 or Greece on November 8 during the 2028 European Championship qualifiers.
Horiha expressed gratitude to the Macedonian people, stating that the country has made him feel at home since his arrival and describing the transition as a major life step and a new professional chapter.
