Dimitrovgrad Market faces sales decline due to low consumer spending

The Dimitrovgrad Market, one of the largest open-air markets on the Balkan Peninsula with over 1,800 commercial units, is facing a significant decline in sales and consumer purchasing power.

Traders report that despite offering heavy promotions, such as two items of children's clothing for 5 euros, actual buyers are scarce. While visitors still frequent the market, many are reportedly only there for leisure rather than shopping. Merchants note that while clothing prices have remained stable relative to currency conversion rates, the rising costs of food and medicine are exhausting household budgets, forcing consumers to prioritize essentials over discretionary items like apparel.
