Dimovski criticizes Prespa Agreement and historical heritage claims

Ilija Dimovski has criticized the Prespa Agreement with Greece and the protocols with Bulgaria, claiming they have caused North Macedonia to forfeit its historical heritage.

Dimovski stated that through the Prespa Agreement, the country renounced any heritage from the Aegean Macedonia region. He further noted that the protocols with Bulgaria resulted in a recognition of Tsar Samuel as a ruler of a medieval state that most modern historical science identifies as the Bulgarian Empire.

He argued that the transfer of remains and the naming of Tsar Samuel on his new tombstone were formally verified by the previous Macedonian government through these signed documents. Dimovski characterized these agreements as being imposed through coercion and violence, contrary to the will of the people.
