Dina Ezzat released on bail amid police misconduct allegations

Egyptian investigative authorities have ordered the release of Dina Ezzat on a 10,000 EGP bail following her arrest on charges of spreading false news and disturbing public peace. The case gained significant public attention after Ezzat posted videos on social media alleging that security forces fabricated a drug case against her husband and seized money and gold from their home in Nasr City.

The Ministry of Interior provided a conflicting account, stating that Ezzat’s husband was arrested in July while caught red-handed using and trafficking hashish and ice. According to official statements, the police also recovered weapons and cash during a search of the residence. While Ezzat claims the arrest stemmed from a dispute over money, authorities maintain that all legal procedures were followed during the drug-related operation.
