Dinamo President Andrei Nicolescu Rules Out Candidacy for Romanian Football Federation

Andrei Nicolescu, president of FC Dinamo Bucharest, told host Ovidiu Ioanițoaia on the TV programme “Prietenii lui Ovidiu” that he has no intention of running for the presidency of the Liga Profesionistă de Fotbal (LPF) or the Federaţia Română de Fotbal (FRF). He said his focus remains on improving Dinamo’s performance and that any future role would be limited to helping clubs obtain clearer information from the federation, not to become an adversary.

The discussion comes ahead of the 2027 LPF presidential election, in which incumbent Gino Iorgulescu is expected to step down. Sources suggest current LPF secretary‑general Justin Ștefan may be a leading candidate, while Nicolescu’s name has been mentioned in speculation but he dismissed the theory as “just a rumor”.
