Hajduk Split disputes WhiteBIT sponsorship deal over data privacy
Negotiations between HNK Hajduk Split and the cryptocurrency company WhiteBIT appear to be collapsing. The dispute centers on a proposed sponsorship model that would grant the company access to the personal data of Hajduk’s approximately 105,000 members. The club has expressed significant concerns regarding data protection laws and the integrity of its membership.
While initial reports suggested a multi-million euro deal, Hajduk clarified that the fixed portion of the offer was reportedly less than one million euros annually. Much of the potential value was tied to variable bonuses dependent on member engagement with the WhiteBIT platform. Hajduk issued an official statement denying claims made by former player Ivica Pirić, asserting that Pirić was not part of official communications and that his statements constituted misinformation.
In separate football news, GNK Dinamo Zagreb has secured a place in the Champions League play-offs following a victory over Kauno Žalgiris. The club is now preparing for a domestic match against Rudeš and a crucial upcoming playoff against the Norwegian side Viking. Dinamo's coach, Mario Kovačević, noted that while the team is focused on the Champions League, maintaining domestic performance remains a priority. Additionally, the elimination of Red Star Belgrade from Champions League qualifications could potentially increase Dinamo's revenue through UEFA's coefficient-based distribution system.
