Croatian football leagues begin new seasons across multiple tiers
The new football seasons are commencing across various levels of the Croatian league system. In the SuperSport Prva NL, NK Karlovac 1919 begins its campaign against NK Sesvete with ambitions to return to the top tier after 15 years. Meanwhile, Vukovar 1991 returns to the second tier, aiming for stability and eventual promotion following a recent exodus of players and coaching staff.
In the top-flight SuperSport HNL, NK Varaždin enters a high-stakes period following strong performances against Hajduk and Rijeka. The club faces a significant challenge in an upcoming match against league leaders Dinamo Zagreb. Dinamo Zagreb is currently focused on securing Champions League qualification to avoid significant budgetary shortfalls, noting that failure to qualify could necessitate player sales.
At the regional level, the county leagues in the Vukovar-Srijem and Vinkovci regions are also beginning their seasonal play.
