Dinamo Zagreb denies rumors of Thiago Alcántara coaching appointment

Dinamo Zagreb has officially denied rumors suggesting that former Spanish midfielder Thiago Alcántara is a candidate to replace current manager Mario Kovačević. The club stated that the reports regarding Alcántara were news to them and that they have no knowledge of such a scenario.

Club leadership, including Zvonimir Boban, maintains full confidence in Kovačević. Despite a recent 2-4 loss to NEC in the Europa League, the club has indicated it will not make hasty decisions and will only consider coaching changes at the mid-season or end of the season, unless a severe crisis occurs.

Alcántara, who previously served on Hansi Flick’s coaching staff at Barcelona, is currently in Andorra working toward his UEFA B and A coaching licenses. While speculation linked him to Dinamo due to his tactical style and connections to academy head Albert Capellas, the club confirms there are no current plans to bring him to Zagreb.
