Dinamo Zagreb advances to Champions League play-offs

Dinamo Zagreb has advanced to the UEFA Champions League play-off round after defeating Lithuanian side Kauno Žalgiris with a 7-1 aggregate score. Following a dominant 5-0 victory in the first leg, Dinamo secured the progression with a 2-1 win in the second leg in Kaunas, featuring goals from Lukas Kačavenda and Josip Mišić.

Despite the win, Dinamo played a significant portion of the second match with ten men after goalkeeper Ivan Filipović received a direct red card in the 32nd minute. Kauno Žalgiris, managed by Željko Sopić, managed to score one goal through Gabriel Debeljuh but could not overcome the deficit.

Dinamo will now face Norwegian club Viking in the play-off round to determine who enters the Champions League league phase. The club has also announced ticket sales for the upcoming home match against Viking at Maksimir Stadium. Success in the upcoming rounds promises substantial financial rewards from UEFA, with potential earnings estimated to reach up to 23 million euros if Dinamo reaches the league phase.
