Dinara mountain rescue: German hiker airlifted to Knin hospital

A German citizen was rescued from the difficult terrain of Mount Dinara after sustaining an ankle injury during a hike. The rescue operation, conducted on a Saturday evening, involved a coordinated effort between the Croatian Air Force (HRZ) 395th Transport Helicopter Squadron, the Special Forces Command, and the Croatian Mountain Rescue Service (HGSS).

Due to the inaccessible nature of the terrain and unpredictable microclimate, the helicopter was unable to land. Rescuers utilized a hoist system to lower HGSS and Special Forces personnel to the victim's location. The pilot noted that such missions are among the most demanding for the HRZ, requiring extreme stability to ensure safety during the extraction.

The injured man was successfully airlifted and delivered to a hospital in Knin at approximately 20:25 local time for further medical treatment.
