DINAVISA alerts on illegal sale of aesthetic injectables in Paraguay

The National Directorate of Sanitary Surveillance (DINAVISA) in Paraguay has issued an alert regarding the illegal sale of Sculptra and Power Col-Tra, injectable products used to stimulate collagen and facial volume. These poly-L-lactic acid-based products are being marketed without sanitary registration, particularly through social media and pharmacies in border areas.

Because these items entered the country through unauthorized channels, DINAVISA cannot guarantee their authenticity, sterility, or proper storage conditions. The authority warned that using such products can lead to serious complications, including skin infections, severe allergic reactions, or unpredictable effects if the substances differ from those declared on the packaging.

DINAVISA has prohibited the commercialization, distribution, and advertising of these products nationwide and ordered the seizure of existing units. Health professionals are advised to verify sanitary registrations, and individuals who have already received these injections are urged to seek medical attention if they experience intense pain, redness, lumps, or vision changes.
