Dindigul: Key accused in DMK functionary murder hacked to death

A key accused in the murder of DMK functionary ‘Bathroom’ Murugan was hacked to death on the Dindigul-Natham highway on Tuesday. The victim, Veerapathiran, was traveling on a two-wheeler with his wife near Nochiodaipatti village when a gang intercepted them. Veerapathiran was killed in the attack, and his wife sustained serious injuries after falling from the vehicle.

Dindigul police have seized a Scorpio vehicle allegedly used by the assailants and recovered weapons from the car. Authorities are questioning four relatives of the deceased Murugan, suspecting the attack was an act of revenge. Murugan, a Dindigul Corporation contractor, was murdered in July 2025 in a case allegedly linked to a dispute over temple accounts.
