Dindigul government school water tank contaminated with human waste
Police have registered a case against an unidentified person after human waste was discovered in a plastic water tank at the Panchayat Union Primary School in Manur village, near Palani in the Dindigul district of Tamil Nadu. The incident was discovered on October 5, when the school reopened following a quarterly vacation.
Local parents staged protests at the school, expressing concerns that students might have consumed contaminated water and accusing the headmaster, Jayakumar, of attempting to conceal the incident. However, the School Education Department clarified that the specific Syntex tank in question was not being used to supply drinking water to students at the time, as water is typically supplied via a pipe from another location.
Authorities, including police, health, and revenue officials, have inspected the premises. Police are currently reviewing surveillance footage to identify the perpetrator. PMK leader Anbumani Ramadoss has condemned the act and called for a thorough investigation into whether the incident was part of a conspiracy.
