DINEPA launches water system rehabilitation in Bainet
The National Directorate for Water Supply and Sanitation (DINEPA) has commenced rehabilitation work on the drinking water supply system in Bainet, located in the Sud-Est department. Funded by the World Bank, the 15-month project aims to improve water access for more than 10,000 residents.
The project is being executed by a consortium consisting of BECAG, BECOCI, and ACoR, with supervision provided by UNOPS. Local authorities expressed support for the initiative, which seeks to strengthen existing hydraulic infrastructure to ensure a regular supply of potable water.
In a separate initiative to strengthen national water management, DINEPA has issued a call for expressions of interest to identify operators for water supply systems in rural towns with populations between 3,000 and 20,000. Interested parties, including private companies, NGOs, or community operators, have until November 30, 2026, to submit applications for various management models, such as technical operation or maintenance.
