Dingelstädt family church to inaugurate new wooden altar

A new family church on Kerbschen Berg near Dingelstädt is scheduled for its ceremonial inauguration on Sunday, August 30. The centerpiece of the ceremony is the unveiling of a new altar crafted from a massive wooden log.

The altar design features a movable section that, when paired with the fixed block, suggests an infinity symbol. A relic tomb is housed within the fixed portion, visible through glass when the movable part is shifted. The design incorporates a partially transparent tabernacle, an idea inspired by children's curiosity regarding the contents of the vessel. The use of natural wood, including its inherent cracks and irregularities, reflects Franciscan principles of finding holiness in nature's imperfections.
