Dino Patti Djalal urges 2030 climate deadline, pushes 100 GW solar goal for Indonesia

Founder of the Foreign Policy Community of Indonesia, Dino Patti Djalal, warned that the world has only until 2030 to cut global greenhouse‑gas emissions by about 45 % to keep warming below 1.5 °C. He said missing the target would amplify risks to health, economies, food security, energy, water, migration and security.

Speaking at the Indonesia Net Zero Summit 2026 in Jakarta, Djalal highlighted Indonesia’s opportunity to lead the transition by delivering 100 GW of solar power, protecting forests and peatlands, expanding carbon markets and strengthening climate diplomacy. He urged President Prabowo to make the 100 GW solar target a national priority, noting that successful implementation would attract ESG investment.

Djalal stressed that climate change must become the top priority on the global development agenda and called for coordinated international action to avoid escalating conflicts over resources and broader instability.
