Dinorah Figuera, president of the 2015 National Assembly and coordinator of the opposition delegation, has detailed the objectives of ongoing negotiations with the Venezuelan government. The talks, facilitated by the United States, follow a roadmap consisting of three phases: stabilization, recovery, and democratization.

Key agenda items include the renewal of public powers, the transformation of the justice system, and the establishment of electoral guarantees. Figuera stated that the delegation is pushing for the release of all political prisoners and the restoration of freedom of expression, including the unblocking of restricted information portals.

Regarding institutional changes, Figuera anticipates the appointment of a new Supreme Tribunal of Justice (TSJ) before the end of the year. Additionally, a technical diagnosis of the National Electoral Council (CNE) is expected by December to lay the groundwork for future elections.

Other members of the opposition delegation, such as Jorge Millán, emphasized that the goal is to create 'clean islands' of institutions to ensure a lasting democracy. Meanwhile, labor union leaders have approached the delegation to request an amnesty mechanism to protect workers from political persecution and arbitrary dismissals.
