Dinosaur Jr. announces 2027 tour of Australia and New Zealand

American alternative rock band Dinosaur Jr. will return to Australia and New Zealand in January 2027 for a series of headline shows. The tour celebrates the release of their thirteenth studio album, ‘There Near’, which was recorded at Bisquiteen Studio in Amherst, Massachusetts.

The tour itinerary begins at the Auckland Town Hall in New Zealand on 16 January. The band will then travel to Australia for performances in Brisbane at The Fortitude Music Hall on 19 January, Sydney’s Hordern Pavilion on 21 January, Melbourne’s Forum on 23 January, Adelaide’s Hindley Street Music Hall on 24 January, and concludes at the Ice Cream Factory in Perth on 26 or 27 January.

The core trio of J Mascis, Lou Barlow, and Murph recorded the new album in concentrated bursts over the course of a year. This marks the band's first tour in the region since 2024.
