Dinosaur Jr. releases new album ‘There Near’

The indie rock band Dinosaur Jr. has released a new album titled ‘There Near’. Recorded at Bisquiteen Studio in Amherst, Massachusetts, the project features the core trio of J Mascis, Lou Barlow, and Murph.

Musically, the album maintains the band’s signature sound, characterized by fuzz-laden guitars, laconic vocals, and a strong low end. J Mascis utilized a 1970s Mesa Boogie MK 1 amp to achieve a crunch similar to their 1985 debut. The eleven-track collection includes songs such as ‘Several Got Away’, ‘Clam Along’, ‘Put It Down’, and ‘No Friends’.

Lyrically, the album explores themes of loneliness, mental health, and emotional isolation. While some tracks like ‘Clam Along’ mask these themes with upbeat riffs, others like ‘No Friends’ and ‘Put It Down’ offer a more vulnerable and introspective perspective. Lou Barlow also contributes to the record, including on the track ‘Blowin’ Up’.
