Diocese of Osma-Soria suspends priest over allegations involving a minor

The Diocese of Osma-Soria has suspended a 67-year-old priest from his duties in the parish of Serón de Nágima following allegations involving a minor. The diocese implemented precautionary measures, prohibiting the priest from exercising any ministry or maintaining any direct or indirect contact with the minor.

Following a completed preliminary canonical investigation, the diocese has forwarded the findings to the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith in Rome to determine the next steps in the ecclesiastical process. The diocese emphasized that these measures are strictly precautionary and do not constitute a declaration of guilt.

On the civil side, the minor's family filed a complaint with the Guardia Civil on August 17, 2026. The case is currently being handled by the Almazán Court, which has opened preliminary proceedings regarding alleged sexual harassment of a minor in a professional environment. The diocese has informed the Provincial Prosecutor's Office of Soria and stated its full intention to cooperate with civil authorities.
