Diocese of Teramo-Atri clarifies ownership of inaccessible cemetery pavilions

The Diocese of Teramo-Atri has issued a clarification regarding the inaccessibility of certain pavilions at the Cartecchio cemetery due to safety concerns. The Diocese stated that these specific structures are not owned or managed by the Diocese, but belong exclusively to the Confraternita di Maria SS. del Carmine e del Santissimo Sacramento, which possesses its own legal and patrimonial autonomy.

The structures are annexed to the municipal cemetery and the Confraternity has been under commissioner management for several years. Because of these complex historical and administrative dynamics, the Diocese lacks the legal authority to perform technical interventions or cover maintenance and renovation costs. Despite these limitations, the Bishop expressed readiness to collaborate with local administration to support the community during this period of difficulty.
