Honda announces Diogo Moreira for official MotoGP factory team

Honda has officially announced that Brazilian rider Diogo Moreira will be promoted to its factory HRC Castrol team for the 2027 MotoGP season. Moreira, who made his MotoGP debut in 2026 with the LCR Honda satellite team, will join French rider Fabio Quartararo in the main factory lineup.

The decision follows a strong debut season for Moreira, highlighted by a historic podium finish in the sprint race at the Japanese Grand Prix. Honda cited his consistent performance and adaptation to the category as key factors in the promotion. Moreira signed a multi-year contract with the Japanese manufacturer.

As part of the roster reshuffle, Colombian rider David Alonso will move to the LCR Honda team to make his MotoGP debut alongside Johann Zarco. The new lineup arrives as the sport prepares for significant technical regulation changes in 2027, which will see engine displacements decrease from 1,000cc to 850cc.
