Diourbel court hears dispute involving daughter of Serigne Fallou Mbacké

A commercial dispute involving Sokhna Mame Saye Mbacké, daughter of the late Mouride general khalife Serigne Fallou Mbacké, was heard at the Diourbel summary court. The case centers on a failed partnership with her disciple, Thiané Diop, regarding a milk importation project initiated in 2021.

According to court proceedings, Mbacké invested 7 million CFA francs into the venture, which aimed to import a 40-foot container of milk for the Senegalese market. However, intense competition led to poor sales and significant financial losses. While Diop claimed losses approaching 100 million CFA francs, she had offered to return the initial investment and provide land as a guarantee, but negotiations failed.

Following a complaint for breach of trust, Diop was arrested at Blaise Diagne International Airport upon her return from abroad and subsequently placed in custody in Diourbel. During the hearing, the defendant contested the accusations, arguing that the situation was a standard commercial failure resulting from entrepreneurial risks.
