Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam hosts AI misinformation training

Students in Hanoi participated in a training program titled ‘AI News? Fact-checking Fake News: Identifying Cognitive Traps and Digital Defense Skills.’ Organized by the Faculty of Communication and Foreign Cultural Affairs at the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam, in collaboration with the Digital Trust Alliance and Media AI Lab, the session focused on equipping young people with tools to navigate the era of artificial intelligence.

Experts highlighted that while AI offers opportunities for education and research, it also enables the creation of highly convincing fake images, voices, and videos. Dr. Nguyen Dong Anh, Acting Head of the Faculty of Communication and Foreign Cultural Affairs, emphasized that developing a fact-checking reflex is now a necessary skill for every citizen in the digital age.

Participants learned to identify cognitive biases and methods to verify information to avoid being manipulated by content designed to trigger emotional responses. Dr. Ta Bich Loan from Media AI Lab noted that critical thinking and evaluating sources are essential to limiting the spread of misinformation in a landscape of multidimensional information.
