Diplomats commemorate Morinj camp victims to promote regional reconciliation

Montenegrin Foreign Minister Ervin Ibrahimović, Croatian Foreign Minister Gordan Grlić Radman, and EU Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos laid wreaths at the Morinj memorial plaque to honor Croatian camp detainees.

Ibrahimović described the Morinj camp as a painful chapter resulting from the destructive policies of the 1990s. He emphasized that confronting past crimes and ensuring accountability for perpetrators are essential prerequisites for building a society based on justice and human dignity. He noted that Montenegro’s stance on crimes committed during the 1990s is supported by final court rulings and stressed the importance of bringing all responsible parties to justice to prevent such events from recurring.

Grlić Radman added that a culture of remembrance is a pathway toward genuine reconciliation in the region.
