Diplomats explore Anhui's cultural heritage in China
Fifteen diplomats stationed in China participated in a week-long cultural exchange tour of Anhui Province, visiting cities including Xuancheng and Huangshan to explore the region's heritage.
In Xuancheng, the group observed traditional Xuan papermaking techniques at the Xuan Paper Museum. Latvian Ambassador Karlis Eihenbaums noted the significance of preserving traditional craftsmanship, while the Ambassador of Botswana, Prof. Lekoko S. Kenosi, suggested potential applications for Xuan paper in wildlife conservation and rock art projects in Botswana.
The tour continued to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Xidi Village in Huangshan, where diplomats examined traditional Huizhou-style residences and discussed the preservation of intangible cultural heritage. The itinerary also featured engagements with local entrepreneurs and visits to Qiyun Town.
