Diplo’s Run Club draws thousands to San Francisco 5K and music festival

The third annual Diplo’s Run Club held its San Francisco 5K on Sunday at Golden Gate Park’s Robin Williams Meadow. The event, which combines a road race with a music festival, drew between 12,000 and 15,000 participants.

Following the 3.1-mile course, the event transitioned into a morning music festival featuring performances by DJ Diplo and British producer Jax Jones. Bay Area hip-hop artist Too $hort made a surprise appearance, performing his classic “Blow the Whistle” and debuting an unreleased track alongside Diplo and Kah-Lo.

In the competitive race, Raul Arcos and Zach Litoff secured the top two positions in the men’s 5K. The roving event, which has expanded to nine cities including Los Angeles, New York, and Mexico City, continues to grow as a hybrid community gathering for athletes and music fans.
