Dipsalut and IDIBGI award biomedical research grants in Girona

During the II Talent Gironí in Research and Health conference, Dipsalut and the Institut d’Investigació Biomèdica de Girona (IDIBGI) announced several research grants and awards for the 2025 and 2026 cycles.

Two projects from the Corporació de Salut del Maresme i la Selva were selected. One project, led by M. Rosa Brutau, focuses on the clinical validation of the ‘Banc de Sang’ app. The second, led by Griselda Manzano and Esther Ferrer, aims to transform frailty management through proactive screening, remote monitoring, and integrated care circuits.

In total, eight research projects from regional hospitals were recognized. Additionally, three Talent Gironí scholarships were awarded to young professionals: Maria Condom for research on tobacco consumption, and Maider Iza and Macarena Míguez for studies on early Parkinson's detection and infectious endocarditis, respectively.

Maria Puig, president of Dipsalut, noted a significant increase in female leadership within the program, with women representing 80% of the award recipients, a figure substantially higher than the 40% average in Catalonia and Spain.
