Diputación de Málaga invests 2.7 million euros in waste management

The Diputación de Málaga is investing approximately 2.75 million euros through the Provincial Urban Solid Waste Consortium (RSU) to enhance separate waste collection services. This investment aims to comply with new legislation regarding waste and contaminated soils to promote a circular economy.

The funding will be used to acquire several pieces of equipment, including five new trucks: three rear-loading trucks for organic and residual fractions, one side-loading truck, and one top-loading truck for glass collection. Additionally, the investment covers four trailers for transporting waste to the Valsequillo environmental center, 28 large bins for bulky household items, 450 side-loading containers for residual waste, and 85 containers for paper and cardboard.

Francisco Salado, president of the Diputación de Málaga, stated that the initiative is part of a long-term commitment to sustainable waste management and recycling. The Consortium currently provides selective collection for glass, paper, and light packaging to all 91 member municipalities, with expanded services for organic and residual waste across various localities.
