Diputación de Toledo allocates 8,000 euros to Talavera animal shelter
The Diputación de Toledo has approved a cooperation agreement with the Ayuntamiento de Talavera de la Reina to provide 8,000 euros for the maintenance of the Municipal Center for the Reception of Abandoned Animals during 2026.
The funds are intended to cover essential operational costs, including food for sheltered animals, veterinary treatments, identification, cat sterilization, and animal collection services. This initiative aims to support animal welfare and public health by assisting a facility that manages a high volume of abandoned dogs and cats.
While Talavera de la Reina is too large to be included in the Diputación’s specific Provincial Plan for Abandoned Dogs—which targets municipalities with fewer than 50,000 inhabitants—the provincial government has established this specific collaboration to address the center's significant workload and service importance.
