Dira Paes to star as Rosenda in Globo telenovela ‘Lá na Minha Terra’

Actress Dira Paes will portray Rosenda, a cattle rancher in the upcoming Globo telenovela ‘Lá na Minha Terra’, scheduled to premiere on November 9. Set in the fictional town of Lavra Seca in Ceará, the story follows Rosenda as she manages her land and raises five children alone following the disappearance of her husband, Severino.

Paes described the character as a complex figure who embodies the matriarchal archetype found in many Brazilian societies, noting that Rosenda is defined by both her strengths and her mistakes. The production aims to depict a diverse vision of the Brazilian ‘sertão’, drawing parallels between the Northeast, the Amazon, and Minas Gerais.

The narrative focuses on the preservation of rural customs and the resilience of women. While Rosenda is considered wealthy in terms of her livestock and land quality, the character's journey emphasizes the challenges of maintaining family and culture in a rural setting.
