He suggested the follow‑up could arrive several years later and may not continue the original protagonist’s story, leaving open the possibility of an anthology series set in the same universe. *Obsession* has earned roughly $286‑300 million worldwide, nearly 30‑400 times its $750,000 budget.

The film’s success has also sparked a debate over crew compensation. Art director Sally Choi disclosed she was paid $300 per day, totalling about $6,741 after taxes.
